Good as place as any I guess for this:
I spec'd SYS on a US server recently and noticed his chaingun shots lagged behind his target about a player model width back, or slightly less. When he was tracking his opponent he was consistently trailing with his chain shots. Missing. I could clearly see him aiming and shooting behind his opponent.
He said he thought he was on target. Then they played on a EU server and the tracking was pretty much on target the whole match with chain from my spec view.
Now, that doesn't sound like lag. It sounds like broken code. What you see should be what you hit. Your view, even if delayed 150-200ms, should allow hits based on what you see in your game. Local to you. It should not show you a hitbox 200 ms out of sync with where the game registers your target.
This isn't news to most of us but I was very surprised to see in SPEC what I suspected and experience everytime playing with high ping.
Does anyone know if SPEC "sees" what is really happening, what the game registers? Because it was different from what the player could see. Or at least it seems so.
